Battle Plans
So I decided I was going to follow the open source project Open Duck Mini on GitHub. There you'll find the information you need to build a simplified ~2/3 size (thus the mini) BDX droid.
Join the discord server! The founders of this project are there. People are very helpful in answering questions. And reading other people's questions and struggles really does help as you start running into the same or similar issues.
I'm very grateful to the people that put this repo together. They didn't have to take the time to do that. But I will say... you're going to have to put in some work and ask some questions to get all the info you need to build your BDX. There are multiple versions of some files and they aren't always clearly labeled. There are mods that you can try, but there are caveats to them (go read the discord server!) And like any sufficiently complex project, there's some errors/typos here and there. You have to be willing to sit down and figure it out.
I've often found that once I started physically attempting to solve a problem, I started to understand how it worked. I've posted so many posts on the discord server that I later went back and deleted, because I eventually figured it out. For the posts I didn't delete people have been super nice about throwing me some answers and/or suggestions.
I hope to be able to pay that back in the future.
